PILATES 450 Hour Education

Start possible at any time.

PILATESwiss® is internationally recognized and active in 16 countries around the world. You can attend our entire 450-hour Pilates teacher training program in 6-18 months and, upon completion, register to write the National Pilates Certification Program Exam, (formerly known as PMA exam). PILATESwiss’ user-friendly program is made of different building blocks that you complete at your own speed.

The on going 450-hour teacher-training program runs continuously and allows students to start at any time at PILATESwiss®

We are trilingual!
All documents are available in English or German and in certain cases in French. the language of instruction is either in both English/Geman or French

The 450 hour program of PILATESwiss® requires:

61 hours coaching supported machine practice
PILATESwiss students/Interns in our programs can choose from different coaching or studio access to practice on the machines. This is intended to immerse you in a studio environment so that you experience all machines and aspects of studio life. Please check directly if the host studio has a usage fee for practice hours as this may vary.
70 hours self-study/reading
Preparation reading of materials, directly related to a workshop’s content. Students do these hours at home before, after or during the individual workshops.
144 hours required workshop attendance

PILATESwiss students can go in the speed or order they wish when completing the workshops. The required workshop program is:
Pilates Mat Class Basic, Pilates Mat Class Expert, Pilates Postnatal, Pilates Chair, Pilates Barrels, Pilates Cadillac, Pilates, Reformer, Pilates Reformer Exam Day

165 hours proof of teaching experience
To meet the requirement of Pilates teaching  experience, you must prove that you have taught in the movement industry. These hours can be completed before during or after the 144 hours workshops. It is recommend some of the teaching be done at one of our studios.
We are trilingual
Documents are available in English or German and lessons are possible in both languages and in some cases in French.

Pilates in the style of PILATESwiss®

You will learn a flowing dynamic yet challenging style of the classical Pilates tradition. The modern focus is on alignment and activation of the core or local muscles as defined by the visceral concept of PILATESwiss®. PILATESwiss 450 hour training program is an intense and enriching journey for you to master. We will mentor you to become an excellent teacher and empower you to find your voice.
You will learn specific Pilates anatomy to understand how and when a muscle is activated and then transfer this knowledge to teach on all the major classical studio machines. In the methodology part of our teacher training you will develop your own personal style and the confidence to teach carefully and with a foundation of knowledge.

Mat Classical and Expert Level (small apparatus like rings, rollers, balls, springs and discs) sequences, alignment and recruitment of local muscles)

Visceral Core recruitment (PILATESwiss® unique breathing technique)

Alignment of special populations (Pilates specific anatomy and physiology for groups like post natal women, rehab clients or seniors)

Adjustments (corrections and the recommendation of modifications)

Method and Didactical Instruction (Your own personal teaching tools for competent teaching)

Reformer Pilates groups and personal training

Cadillac Pilates groups and personal training

Chair Pilates groups and personal training

Barrels Pilates groups and personal training

Special Topics (Pilates Barre Fusion or Pilates Reformer on the Mat, Pilates for Scoliosis, Pilates for Injuries)

You will learn how to reach and accompany your students at their individual levels. Through repeated practice you will gain a competence for teaching and corrections.

Further workshops

Further to the required workshops included in the 450 hour studio program schedule, You can decide to register for these exciting additional workshops The duration hours of these workshop hours can be counted towards your class attendance/coaching hours.

Pilates Barre Fusion, Pilates Reformer on the Mat Pilates, Pilates for Scoliosis, Pilates for Injuries.

Prerequisites

You have practiced Pilates for at least one year

You are mentally ready for the challenge of a professional teacher training and can commit the time required for this journey

You are open for personal growth and development

You are physically fit for the practical part of the program

You want to be an open motivating personal Pilates partner to your Pilates clients.

Accreditation / Diploma

PILATESwiss® students are evaluated in the following manner:
Evaluations and exams take place continuously throughout the program in the form of the reformer exam day or in the multiple choice and practical evaluations at the  various workshops It is mandatory for all students to read and teach based on the content of PILATESwiss® Core Anatomy Script, which you will receive before the start of the program.

You can put together the 450 building block hours of the program when you attend our workshops, work through the required self-study content or attend classes/coaching. When these building blocks of the comprehensive program have been accomplished you will receive PILATESwiss comprehensive diploma. Not only are we proud of our internationally acclaimed and globally-active graduates, but, after attending PILATESwiss you can apply to sit the NCPT exam.

Please be aware we take no responsibility should the NCPT change their conditions and requirements to sit their exam during the time of your enrollment at PILATESwiss®.

Health Insurance Recognition
Companies like BGB or Qualticert, who support teachers looking to provide health insurance rebates for their clients are active in Switzerland and you may register with them uppon completion of our programs. Please be aware these are independent form PILATESwiss and their policies may change,
Preparation and required readings
A Pilates teacher should train on Pilates machines regularly in order to immerse themself in a Pilates environment. Work through the scripts and review content daily if possible. During the 61 hours practical practice/coaching, you can further prepare and practice.

Price CHF 5050.00 (in advance) The price includes PILATESwiss Core Visceral Anatomy Method pre-script and all scripts, and handouts and materials during the comprehensive teacher training program. Not included are the costs of the 61 coaching/class attendance.
